Cameras are obsolete?

I was introduce to somebody today who when he was told that I was a photographer acted as if he was shocked. The he laughed out loud and told me “I thought you lot had died out” and added “This is 2020 people have smart phones who need cameras? I am amazed they still make them. Anybody can take great photos now my smart phone is 50 mega pixels better than any camera.” I didn’t like this man. I liked him even less when he told me that his daughter was to get married in the spring and that his son would be taking all the Wedding Photographs on his iPhone, the idiot.

A few months later and he sent me the results via a friend asking me if I could “do anything with them?” As I felt sorry for his daughter I said I would try but I couldn’t do anything about the missing heads or all the other people blocking the pictures, some of them with real camera.

I am not a camera snob nor do I see anything wrong with iPhones or smartphones for that matter in fact anything that encourages people to take photographs is fine by me. However; as this man learnt the hard way camera are not obsolete far from it and if you don’t know what you are doing, hire a photographer.
